Same as you would need to go anywhere else in the US.

I actually just did this last month. All you need is a paper attached to your chest saying “I am a terrorist”

You need a passport and a valid government issued ID. These days they are searching people’s passport to check if they have their visas.

    Be careful

If you are driving to Alaska you will need a passport to go through Canada. If you fly or go by ferry you won’t need one. You don’t need one to go to Hawaii. Both places are part of the U.S.A. you know! If I were you, I’d ck. with the Federal courthouse offices where you live.

Many airlines nowadays ask for to inspect your valid passport and US visa stamp on your passport. In addition to Drivers License, bring your passport just in case.

    It depends .
If you show just an official drivers licenses , they dont know that you arent a citizen !
There has been some reports where people had overstayed their visas and were caught while traveling from different cities (via) air travel at the Airports.
If your visa is not in order , do not bring the passport with you.
    Just use your license.

From a 48-state US city to Alaska you need a “governement-issued photo ID” which for 90% of people is a valid US driver’s license. If you have a current driver’s license from any US state, that is all you need. (plus your ticket or confirmation code).

    Same for Hawaii.

You will go through a metal detector (for guns and knives) and your hand carried bags will go through an X-ray machine (for weapons). You can’t bring liquids through security. You can’t bring fresh fruit from Hawaii to the Mainland.

You only need a passport if you are leaving the USA or if you make a stop in Canada. You would only do that if your flight had a stop in Canada or if you drove up. But if your connection is in Chicago or Seattle or Portland or Minneapolis, you only need a driver’s license.

Contrary to what another poster said, you DO need a passport if you take the State Ferry up from Bellingham. Not if you get off in Juneau or Ketchikan, but if you’re going to Anchorage. Because you’ll get off in Haines or Skagway and have 800 miles to drive, partly in Canada, to get to Anchorage.

The airlines check your name against a “no fly” list. But that is for suspected terrorists. If your name isn’t something like “Mohammed Atta” or “Yusuf Islam”, then you’re okay. They don’t have all 11 million illegal aliens nor all the people who have overstayed their visas on that list.
